The Old Church

-

In shambles, ‘neath the ginormous sky

Stands dejected, the old church

Once a testament to hope, love and faith

Crushed ‘neath violence, humanity awry.

Inside wooden pews, echoes the silent prayers

Of candid confessions and chiming bells

Once a testament to hope, love and faith

Sacrificed in the madness, dreadful nightmares.

Mossy embrace on the remnants of its spire

Yet resolute and replete with pious growth

Once a testament to hope, love and faith

Now laden with strong silence and consequences dire.

A silent hymn on the hallowed ground

Into emptiness melded with muffled missal readings

Once a testament to hope, love and faith

The old church now has tales abound.
